ASIAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION SAN DIEGO
Founded in 1990, Asian Business Association of San Diego (ABASD) represents the interests of over 30,000 Asian Pacific Islander (API) owned businesses throughout San Diego County. ABASD believes in building sustainable communities through inclusive economic development and a qualified diverse workforce.
As part of America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) network, and one of the region's largest ethnic business associations, ABASD offers educational workshops, technical assistance, business mentorship, and access to capital to minority-owned small and disadvantaged businesses, entrepreneurs and start-ups -- in hard-to-reach communities. Its programming consistently grows a unique client base through its business advisors and support staff dedicated to one-on-one, low to no-cost consulting.
Civically, ABASD is among the most influential API organizations countywide and is a leader in public policy and advocacy for an inclusive economy that works for everyone. ABASD is an integral part of a greater business coalition of industry associations and has built strategic partnerships with local and state organizations, multiplying its message more effectively and with greater depth.
SIGNATURE EVENTS
Among its many programs, ABASD hosts its own signature events such as the annual Scholarship and Awards Gala in the fall, Lunar New Year Celebration in the winter, and a Taste of Asia in the spring. Each event reaches up to 500 attendees.
MONTHLY SPEAKER LUNCHEONS
Monthly, ABASD hosts a “Rice Club Luncheon” featuring distinguished speakers from the community, such as elected officials, business, civic and industry leaders. These events provide a more intimate forum for discussing economic, political and diversity issues affecting Asian Pacific Islanders and the business community.
NETWORKING EVENTS
Attracting as many as over 100 people per event, ABASD’s mixers provide members and prospective members with an opportunity for business networking at various venues throughout San Diego County.
ADVANCEAPI FUND
Asian Business Association of San Diego and Mission Driven Finance launched the nation’s first Advance Asian Pacific Islander (API) Fund to support economic security and advancement of San Diego’s API community, with a focus on small business access to capital and workforce development. With Asian Business Association of San Diego serving as an advisor to the Fund Manager Mission Driven Finance, the Fund will provide financing for API businesses that are unable to access reasonably priced capital from banks and other sources of financing.
LEGACY CIRCLE
An exclusive group of influential and top API business leaders and ABASD past leadership, dedicated to mentoring the next generation of leaders.
ASIAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION
The Asian Business Association Foundation takes a proactive leadership role in the community by developing current and future business leaders through educational programs, scholarships, and economic development training. Each year the ABA Foundation provides outreach to high schools throughout San Diego County. Local community leaders assist in evaluating the applicants based on their involvement, dedication and leadership in building a better community for all.
